Things have been very busy so far this year with people shopping for wedding invitations. Of course, lots of people got engaged over the holidays, but the new year also prompts people to get organized and start the planning process even if they’d already been engaged for a few months.
We recently received a new William Arthur wedding album and let’s just say, It. Is. FABULOUS!!! There are a few common threads we’ve noticed throughout the pages, which indicate new trends in the world of wedding invitations.
1) Enlarged fonts for the names of the bride and groom, using typography as the main design element.
2) Gold Foil! As letterpress has grown in popularity, gold foil stamping has grown with it. We love the dramatic elegance it creates, especially when partnered with interesting design elements and bold typography.
3) Polka Dots! Polka dots have made a big comeback in the design world lately, and for good reason. This bold, cheerful print looks great in almost every color and always makes people smile. Smaller dots in neon or gold offer a more modern spin on the design and can be integrated in the invitation itself, or the envelope liner for a little “surprise of happiness” when the recipeint opens the envelope.
4) Blush: While blush may be slightly more of an understated look than some of the above, make no mistake: it has a very distinct look of its own. We love blush paired with charcoal ink to provide a nice contrast and balance between feminine and masculine. Blush cards also look great with gold foil stamped typography and designs to add an extra element of interest and contrast.
Lots of new and exciting things, we invite you to stop by and check them out in person! We recommend making an appointment to look at wedding invitations – call us at 407-629-6999 to set up a time.
We’ll also be at the Bridal Stroll on February 9 at the Alfond Inn, which showcases all the best local wedding vendors! This is a great way for new brides (and their grooms!) to meet a variety of local vendors and view samples of their product in person. We hope to see you there!
